What should you have on the menu when you are planning festive 1900’s luxury cruise murder mystery birthday party?! Well, we thought of fancy dresses, sleek and wavy hair, and, of course, MARTINI’s!
Knowing that we would have different pallets joining us, we settled on three options – The Vesper, The Clover Club, and this Freezer Door Cosmopolitan.

I will start by thanking social media because this drink was made possible by a reel from Milk Street and their freezer door series – so many kinds of freezer door cocktails to try listed there.

What I appreciated most about this is the ease of making it in advance and just keeping it in the freezer. Then pull it out when needed to shake it up a little more and serve garnished with orange peel and a smile. It was perfect for entertaining, as we had other cocktails to make and serving courses thru out the evening. It was also great for a holiday work happy hour as an easy contribution to the menu.

*Not shown here was the holiday version of the freezer door Cosmopolitan. I substituted reduced pomegranate juice for the cranberry and placed 2 long sprigs of rosemary in the bottle for a day that were pulled out before serving.
Freezer Door Cosmopolitan
Ingredients:
- 750 ml bottle vodka of your choice, I had used both New Amsterdam and Kettle One
- 3 oz orange liquor, Grand Marnier
- 2 oz water
- 1 oz cranberry juice
- 1/2 tsp orange bitters
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 oz agave syrup
Preparation:
Remove 9 oz of vodka from a full bottle and reserve for another use. Using a funnel, pour the rest of the ingredients into the bottle. Put the cap on the bottle and shake to combine. Place bottle in the freezer and chill for a few hours before serving.
To serve, you can either shake more over ice for the very chilled, or just pour into martini glass and serve with a slice of lime or orange for the extra citrus.
Happy Cocktailing!!!
