It’s the first year that the kid wanted me to make the birthday cake instead of buying it from Target or somewhere like that and I dove right in!
Her biggest request is that she wanted some sort of awesome dance party kind of cake. The big theme was blue, as you probably can see. But the highlights where the rice krispy disco ball, the sugared stained glass dance floor and the Melted White Chocolate Decorations. I can’t forget to mention the home made butter cream frosting and edible blue spray paint.
I will say, unlike other cakes you have seen me post, this was a box mix. I figured with the decorating, we didn’t need to go crazy on the baking part too. The chocolate decorations couldn’t be easier to make. The only thing that I would have to say about it is that just don’t over heat the chocolate, or it will start to separate and you aren’t coming back from that.
Have fun with the designs, you can put a drawn design under your parchment to trace, or just free hand draw and write letters.
Melted Chocolate Cake Decorations
Ingredients:
- One bag white chocolate chips (milk or dark chocolate will also work)
Preparation:
- Bring a pot of water to a simmer on the stove. Place a glass bowl over the top and pour the chocolate in. Stir often and watch until the chocolate melts to smooth without chunks.
- Remove from the heat and place on towel. Continue you stirring and pour into freezer safe zip lock bag (regular or thinner zip lock bags could start to melt from the heat). Cut the tip off to the size that you would like and pipe out your designs on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Place in the freezer and keep there until decorating the cake. No longer than 24 hours – you don’t want it freezer burned.
Happy Melting!!!
